OK looks like a job offer iminent. Medical today, references have both been checked.

I am leaving a place I have been for 3 years. Really I feel weirdly enough sad in some ways. I'm excited about the new opportunity.. but it's strange...

    Any comments appreciated.

Changing jobs is always weird. You're comfortable in your current position, you know where everything is, where everyone is, how the processes work and everything you need to know to do your job.

You're moving to somewhere where none of the above is true. Everyone finds this and your first week/month in a new job is always strange and worrying - you can even feel sometimes like you just want to go back to the comfort and ease of your old job.

I would always give at least 3 months to settle into a new job and about 6 months to have it nailed down. That is, if you're not happy after 3 months, consider leaving. If you're happy there, then after 6 months you should be looking to expand your role and/or get promoted :)

I just left a job of 6 years where I was pretty happy, so I know where you're coming from. It's quite refreshing starting a new job though, it's a good challenge learning the new technologies / methodologies etc.

Edit: Congratulations! - and I'd echo everything Seamus said.

Slightly OT...The last company I worked in I was there for 7 years and got on well and knew everybody else in the IT department(about 50 peeps). Four years on in my next employer, the IT guy next door to me was engaged, married and on his honeymoon when I found out and there's only 6 IT peeps in my area!
I still long for my old place but coming here was better for many reasons(progress, experience and money!).
Best of luck....makes me think of my own itchy feet now!

Well got the offer on Friday. More money, more holidays, better hospital plan, flexi time, less hours, free doctor, training, travel, subsidised canteen...

I accepted of course and handed in my notice 5 minutes later. My boss was understanding enough although clearly it was not something expected. On Monday have to put my job spec up on notice board and am involved in recruiting my replacement haha... from the team I used to manage. Well strictly speaking, Ive a few weeks so I will be managing while handing over the reigns to someone else.

When I was saying it to my team I couldnt believe how emotional I felt. Anyone else found it difficult to leave a team when you are in a management position and have worked damn hard and well with the people on that team?? They were all surprised but happy for me!
