Selling shares with no certificate

Probably a stupid question but can you actually sell shares without the certificates?

The company I have shares with has a phone service where you can ring up and sell your shares over the phone. All you need is your SRN and pin which I have.
However I also lost the certificates several years ago (stupid I know).

So is this still possible given the above service or is that just an agreement and you then have to physically send in the certificate?

If not, is it possible at all to sell them or am I stuck getting their crappy dividend each year!?

    Thanks.

There is a process to have lost share certs re-issued: contact the company or its share registrar
have a look here in the faq's

Yeah I've applied for an indemnity form now, thanks. With the cost of the fee for re-issuing the certificates, capital gains and commission it'll only be a small profit margin!

Computershare will accept your sell order without you having produce the certificates up front.

However as soon as the trade is executed by the broker they will send you a form, which you will have 2 weeks to sign and return to them with the certificates.

If you dont send them the certificates within two weeks, they will reverse your trade and you will OWE THEM money for placing an order you couldnt settle.
