Ab crunches-Best way?

Is it better to do 50 crunches in reps of 10 on 50Kg, or to do 100 crunches in reps of 50 at 25Kg?

The pain kicks in much earlier with the 50Kg so I assume this is doing more good? But I can do more reps at 25Kg. So basically is it better to do heavier to get toned, or simply the action of crunching alone is doing enough even at a light weight?

are you talking about doing crunches with a 50kg plate across your chest? thats mental, i couldnt get past 20kg across my chest... id normally do sets of 20-25 depending on the mood, and id do 5 reps.

I am gathering that this is in relation to wanting to get a 6 pack.

If it is then chances are this shouldn't be your primary concern, your diet should be as basically you probably need to drop your BF so that you can see your abs

*as boards keeps dying I am only going to write a short reply

You're probably talking about an ab crunch machine in the gym from the sounds of your weights.

If you can do crunches with 50kg on your chest you are most likely a gorilla.

I dunno what others think of these machines but I think them a bit of a waste of energy.

The quickest most intense abs exercise I find is doing leg raises and holding your legs straight out in front of you parralel to the floor as long as you can. Repeat until you can't lift your legs. If you fart in the hours proceeding doing this you will get muscle cramp across your abs, it really messes them up and generally you'll last about 2 mins at it so it won't take all day.

Of course you should be doing squats and deadlifts to strengthen abs (insert generic squats/deads & abs rant here)

Spot on. Cheers. think I will go with the leg raises. Done them in football trainin' and you really feel it givin' your body a work-out.

The ab crunch machine seems to get at my thighs more than my stomach.
