na you are completely right there all the stars,i dont know him personally... violance, guns & drugs dont really bother me to be honest. he's a good rapper and i like him for that(the majority of stuff you hear in rap is bulls**t anyways so i dont take it all seriously-you'd be a fool to believe everything). However, animal cruelty is completely f**ked up in my eyes... "sure thats pretty bad - but" FFS in all fairness its senseless cruelty...10 dogs had gotten no water or food and were dying slow deaths AND 3 dogs were found dead. 1 of which was burnt to death.

i didnt post a thread to get a 'smart' answer of some yob... i posted this to ask if anybody else had any info or "proper thoughts" on the subject, not just, "ah sure ya dont know him so whats it to ya?!"

look put it this way, if one of your favourite football players or soap stars did the same thing(allegedly), then i think you'd be just at least the tiniest bit curious wouldn't you ??

Sure this has been out a while. I lost any respect for him years ago.

So he actaully is my favourite rapper ... period. Maybe he was on a lenghty prison stretch when that happened. Animal cruelty - terraible. Getting on the high horse - equally terraible. Who knows what had happened. Who said he burned the dog?
Also, im not a yob and wasn't being smart.

    No. Slightly less terrible.

Ah I dunno, getting on that high horse happens a lot, the horse must be in bits at this stage, so it probably does equal animal cruelty.

fair enough all the stars, sorry about the yob comment, just kinda assumed that you just read the post, read the link and THEN commented(was under the impression that you never even listened to him before). seeing as he's your favourite rapper too you can probably relate to the conflict that id have going on in mind about ACTUALLY SUPPORTING someone who's been cruel to animals... by supporting, i mean still listening to his music and still saying that he's my favourite rapper, or even supporting him with money by continuing to purchase his cds!

Dunno about the burnt dog part tbh. if you read anything about that day most reports will mention that 3 dogs were found dead and one of them was burnt (actually come to think of it,dont think it actually siad how the dog died. my bad!!)

I know its been a while since its happened but ive only heard it lately..
has anyone heard anything about him denying it, giving a reason or anything?? even saying that he went on tour and simply forgot about them is better than nothing, or that someone else was taking care of them while he was away...

I was a DMX fan too and have only just heard this news. I am completely in agreement with you Chris animal cruelty makes me sick, sad and angry. I get very upset about it and I, personally, will never support DMX again in any way shape or form. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Also, anybody who feels so passionately about a subject like this is allowed to have a rant!!

some good hip hop, that doesn't involve "money, bitches and glocks"??

i would seriously recommend "classified". he's a rapper from halifax,nova-scotia (canada). has very good beats and lyrics, doesn't rap about hot cars and fast women as much as the rest of them

check him out seriously, you tube or last fm.
the maritimes song is a real anthem over there and seeing as ireland has left a massive foot print there through emmigration it makes me feel all proud of the irish with the background tune:D (kinda like house of pain stuff).
he also has a bitta taste with regard to other music genres, check out "all about you" if ya wanna see what i mean.

anyone else have any ideas on rappers that are a bit unusual as to their style or a bit more underground where we wouldnt have heard of them??
ireland has the biggest load of mainstream s**te on offer to us so i always appreciate some new good music.:D

Hmmm..... MF Doom is good but an acquired taste methinks. Mos Def's "Black on both sides", Talib Kweli's "Quality", and Diamond D's "Stunts, blunts & Hip-Hop" (This last one's old but good!).

Redman might come under the "Glocks and b*tches" banner sometimes but I'd recommend his early ones "Whut?! Thee album" and "There is a darkside" as examples of very original albums with GREAT beats on which the subject matter is never monotone!

Also I've recently been getting into French Hip-Hop, as I was working with a French guy for a while who loved his hip-hop. Artists like Iam, Passi, Stomy Bugsy, Doc Gyneco are all worth checking out! Was a big fan of french hip-hop controversial group NTM also until recently until I found out Joey Starr of the group has also been in trouble for cruelty to animals, so you might want to avoid them. Make sure you don't dismiss it because of the language, the beats are kickin, really very good stuff!

Also if you're into soul, any of Ghostface Killah's solo releases are worth a listen!

    Hope this helps! :D

ya I've heard quite a few people say that talib kwali is worth a listen to, i heard him rap on a few of kanye wests albums and he seems to be preety good. "Redman might come under the "Glocks and b*tches"" dont know about that now, think he's more of a fun rapper, ya know the type, more about partyin and havin fun, like xzibit!! just kind of party raps with the odd "f**k with me and ill f**k you up" track in the middle of the album:p
anyone see when mtv cribs were at redmans house? funny s**t!!:D

sorry its bit off:rolleyes:... but gangstarr have got to be one of my favourite groups, also definately worth a listen!(even though it does exactly what it says on the tin,its gangster music, but at its best i might add!!;))

How did I forget to include the Hip-Hop supremos that are GangStarr? DJ Premier is the best DJ/Producer to ever grace the Hip-Hop scene and has produced some of the finest music to date! The album "Moment of Truth" would have toi be my personal favourite, but every album is a classic really.

Also Guru from GangStarr has done a number of albums called "Jazzmatazz" where he teams up with Jazz musicians to create "An experimental fusion of jazz & hip-hop". Highly recommended!

Oh and Redman isn't solely a party rapper, u have to listen to his old stuff that doesn't get played in the clubs to get a taste of the real Redman! :)

whole heartedly agree with you about gangstarr, i must have a look for the jazzmatazz albums

fair enough about the redman comment.. im not even gonna try to know what im on about there. i only have the one album, and thats "where is regie noble?"(think thats what its called, its been a while:p)
and from that album alone, i just got the impression that he's more of a take the p*ss rapper more than anythin'(skits are quite entertaining, kinda like ludacris' ones on his albums)
so if you like redman then i guess you gotta like method man i take it?!(the rotweiler, one of the best beats EVER created:))
always liked his stuff but never really had the time to get into it. just the main stuff that everyone has heard..

Ya I think da album ur talkin about is "Malpractice". Either that or "Doc's da name 2000", both his weakest efforts, and very party orientated!

Not a big fan of Meth... don't really like the sound of his voice to be honest! Wu-Tang members I would rate would be GZA, U-God, and Ghostface! Also Raekwon's "Only Built for Cuban Linx" and GZA's "Liquid Swords" are considered two of the finest albums ever to come out of hip-hop, might wanna check em out!

malpractice!! thats the one! i just got a bit put of the beaten track because of the whole regie noble thing!:p
ok so thats where i got the idea from then(that he was more party orientated)
love track 9 on that album by the way. i always seem to put it on mix cds because i like the beat so much!
cheers for the feedback lads, as soon as i get the chance ill have a listen:cool:
