New laptop freaking Netopia Modem

    Ok lads, need some help:

I'm running on a Netopia Cayman 3347W Wi-fi Router. I first noticed the problem with my Wii which I rarely use. After each session the router had to be turned off, unplugged for 20seconds and then rebooted to allow it to work again. This did not effect anything else.

On thursday my new Dell Vostro 1000 running Vista arrived. It has a Dell 1394 11Mb mini-card. After I correctly typed the WEP in I was away, or so I thought. Every now and then, and sometimes when I shut down the laptop the router freaks and looses the broadband connection entirely, which my dad doesn't like as his wired connection is on that same router. His laptop , an Acer aspire, has never had caused this issue. Also, the firewall on the new vostro is disabled, theres a firewall on the router.

Any help is resolving this much apreciated,
    Lethal

Reset the router and power cycle it (turn it off for 15 seconds and then back on).

Don't think there's a manual reset on the back so you'll need to go to the router page (192.168.1.254) and do it from there.

Sorry, was unclear. I've booted like that 10 times now. What I wanna know is how to stop it happening in the first place.
