    it's only the 5% or so customs duties, you're still gonna get stung the 21% VAT.

    From my interpretation of what the amendment says they are changing the value of "goods of negligable value" from 22 euro to 150 euro. Currently in Ireland goods of negligable value are exempt from VAT too - I would hope that it remains so after the limit is increased to 150 euro.

    jkn, its good news for anything not electronic tbh

    Plus ive never had to pay any customs for anything below 150 before.
    Recently purchased joystick from usa for 120 euros.

    Have you tried the second hand US market? Lot's of cheap lenses for very little money.

    Also a new nifty fifty will often only cost 60-70 euro and will now be legally tax free. A few Sigma lenses too...

    I think the point is that very soon it will be legal to spend that amount of money on a joystick and not pay tax on it. :p
