    I have to automate a fairly complicated chart and put it on the web server.i was wondering what wud be the best application to use, excel? VB?...any ideas? and do u know any websites that could help me?

    OP I think you might need to supply more detail before anyone can offer helpful advice.

    What type of 'chart' ?
    How do you mean by 'you need to automate it' ?

    You can create charts on the fly with PHP/Flash by using PHP/SWF Charts software. It is excellent.
    Your php script gathers the data from wherever and then calls the PHP/SWF function and you get a slick looking graph. It's $45 (<29 euro) for commercial use.
