    Ok I'm back,

Was on an investigation with 35 other people at this place last week

    https://www.prairieghosts.com/waverly_tb.html

    in Kentucky

Its a great location, many many reports of shadow people etc from the other groups.

The group i was in was halved into two groups of 4, possible sightings reported by the group i was in (2-3 experiences) but never when I was part of the four, they were all sound people in the group, very nice of them to let me in.

Other groups experienced other stuff, some potentially nice stuff was caught on camera, but the stuff is all being checked out. I still have hours of audio and some video to check myself.

It was a great experience, and very well organized by Tommy and Dave from KAPS, as per usual I spotted no ghost., but the hunt goes on. :)

So did you notice any major differences between how and investigation is conducted over there than in Ireland?

    emm,

they had the same camera set up, same audio recorders, same basic ideas, very similar to be honest.

However, they moved around more, trying to get movement, on the first night in Paris Hospital the group i was with more or less walked up and down corridors with cameras and video.

Getting everyone to sit in one place for 15 min just watching did not happen as much.

Other groups had some different bits and bobs, but all in all not much different.

Sounds great Nial, would love to see that place. You bring up a good point though . What do you think would get more of a reaction , moving around or staying still ? Personally i would say , staying still as you can hear more ??

Were people trying to provoke reactions there ?

I'd agree with standing still and quiet.

There was a thread recently about a sighting in a storeroom in the jervis center, and a few more replies about other sightings around that area, but always off in quiet little areas or shops at night, never around the main center in the day when it was busy. And that tracks with other experiences in general, generally they are in quiet areas with not many people around often a night, as opposed to a busy street in the day.

This got me thinking, if we sense paranormal activity through some little used sense, it would be easily overwhelmed by our other senses. So if we are to try an detect something ourselves as opposed to with equiptment of some type, it makes sense that we need to be able to switch off our other senses as much as possible.

The same would hold true if it is our normal senses that detect paranormal activity and not some other unknown sense, we need to free them from other distractions as much as possible.

yeah we stayed with tommy for a few days and met Brian too, put a few faces to names.

Drey, there were people trying to provoke reactions there too, but not as loud as Foghorn Leghorn 6th. :D

Steve, I also agree, I like a mix of keeping still and movement, plus the big thing there is people seeing "shadow" people darting from room to room etc, so i tried to let my eyes adjust and sit still for a bit, in this location

I was very interested in trying to actually see something here, not so much audio or video (although is still tried them along withe the thermal camera), but i would have been happier with a personal sighting.

yeah i knew a lot about it, reading , net + a DVD, Discovery Spooked did a show on it. Anyway, it is as it looks on the net, most floors are the same all the way up. It was organised by KAPS in Kentucky and cost $100 per person, note that there were about 40 people there. There will be another one running next year, around may 9th I think, but you'd need to put yourself about on the KAPs site and show that you are for real etc and genuine. There were a lot of no shows this time, we were expecting 50 people but we had 37.
I was not one bit frightened there and had no dodgy feelings etc, it would be better to have the place with less people, I would have like to have investigated it without people on the floors above and below., having said that the building could take the number of people, it was just the noise from other people.

Join their forum, I'm sure that if you are still around after a while that there would not be an issue with you going.

    Stoner are you US based?

Have you tried any of the old mining towns in the US?

I tried one in CO, but couldn't get the flash to work (if anyone can suggest the best settings for dark areas, I'l appreciate it)

    PSI,

I'm based in Dublin, I just go there on holidays and visit haunted locations along the way, I've been to two or three Ghost towns

I was in Calico in CA, a ghost mining town, there was a ghost tour and people were free to walk around the whole site. I took lots of pictures but got nothing unexplainable.

Another old mine i visited there was Eldorado Canyon in Vegas
    http://www.pinkjeep.com/jeep-tours/lasvegas/eldorado-canyon.shtml

Lovely people there, the mine is said to be haunted (not backed up by the owners)
There is a spot in the mine where digital pictuires always produce 100's of "orbs" I'm 100% convinced that this is just a very dusty part of the mine as I'm not one for looking into orbs in any great detail, i did find it interesting that this spot existed though.

I'm not great on cameras, however I have a cannon 400D, (cannon rebel xt in the states) its a very popular camera.

Chuck from emania research gave me these settings to use in waverly. As per usual I captured nothing out of the ordinary, but the people in Emania research have had some level of sucess with these settings, this information from Chuck might be of some use to you.

"My general setting suggestions are the following:
Option 1 - Use Shutter priority mode (Tv) with a shutter speed of 1/60th of a second or faster. I suggest using 1/60th, unless you are unsteady. Then use 1/80th. Use flash (not red-eye reduction).
Option 2 - Use Manual mode (M) with a shutter speed of 1/60th of a second or faster. Use the widest aperture (lowest F value) possible. Again, use flash (not red-eye reduction).

Since we are looking for shadow people, we will need comparison shots to determine if we catch a shadow person or just a normal shadow. Try to shoot photos in a series of (at least) 3 photos, keeping the camera as still as possible between shots. That should give some frame of reference to improve the strength of any photo evidence we gather.

Remember to watch out for things that could obstruct the flash when taking photos, since that could cause false positives"

I'm sure chuck would help you with your particular camera, he is very good like that.

fair play stoner, we now have an honest to goodness globetrotting ghost hunter :)

Any/all output from your time there would be interesting.

I'll post the full official report when the lads at KAPs have it finished. I have nothing to report from my pictures, but I still have some camera and audio footage to go over.

Electrically from an EMF point of view the site is fairly quiet, although I didn't carry a meter around all the time. I was put in with a group called DuPage Paranormal Society DPS. This suited me as possibly their methods of investigation reflected mine the most from all the other groups involved.

The floor space was huge, five floors in total and it has a "death tunnel" this was a fully enclosed (now partially exposed) tunnel used to bring dead TB victims out of the hospital without out the other patients seeing them.

Many people died there and basically the building consisted of long corridors with rooms directly off them. The patients were wheeled outside to the "fresh air" every day and wheeled back in at night, there are pictures of people with snow on their beds, it was thought that fresh air and the cold would cure TB.

Anyway the most common reported paranormal activity there is "shadow people" these figures are said to dart about and peek in and out of doorways. I would say that approx 50% of the 40 people there reported seeing "shadow people"
    I didn't.

The building could take the eight people per floor, but some noise from other groups on the floors above and below did contaminate the area a little.

There were fixed night vision cameras everywhere.
To date nothing unusual has been reported from them.
I tried to sit on a chair in a corridor and look down the corridor to see if i could see something move, since these "forms" have been seen by so many people I wanted to spend as much of my 14 hours there trying to experience the most common sighting, I thought that was an efficient way to go about it.

Something strange was picked up on a hand held was recorded by Emania Research, I could not comment on it as I only saw it on a small view finder screen, but it will be e mailed to me soon, and I'll like you to it, and you can make up your own mind.
