Dress Alterations in Dublin

    Hey,

I have a black tie event coming up next week and I need to get my dress taken up. Currently you would need to be 7 foot tall to pull it off!

Does anyone know any good tailors/dress makers in Dublin that could take it up for me? I reckon that it would be a very fiddly job the dress is silk with a chiffon layer over it and I have a feeling that the chiffon would snag very easily.

    Any suggestions would be great!

    Thanks!

The Alterations centre just off grafton st. It's above a french restaurant a couple of doors down from the timberland shop.

Des something ..... you go in the doorway beside Swarkovski/ bus stop on Grafton st, is excellent, I'd to have a dress adjusted last yr and he made excellent suggestions on how not to ruin it!

I would second the Alterations place off Grafton. I think it's on South Anne Street, up a rickety set up of stairs. Have used them a lot. It's always busy which says something!

There's a place on Abbey Street..I never know whether it's upper or lower, but basically if you walk from Henry Street down Liffey Street onto Abbey Street, there's a big window advertising alterations. It's mainly one woman I think, she's understaffed but she's amazing, she took up and fixed the strap of a satin/chiffon dress I had to perfection, and took in completely a short brocade silk chinese dress of mine to the point where you'd swear it was made for me, and there's no sign of alteration. Cheap too.

Anyone know what time the alterations place on South Anne Street opens?

I've been to that woman on Abbey Street, she lined a Mac and fixed a leather coat for me. Did a brilliant job and really good value. You wouldn't want to be in a hurry tho. There's also a guy at the top of Capel Street who makes costumes for the theatres in town - altered a suit for my mate - really seems to know what he's at and a gent to boot!
