    Man Utd.

    Family NO

But your thoughts on been born in a time frame is very interesting, could you add one question.
What was your Family team as in who did your father support? think alot of the 20 year old liverpool would have this as their first contact with the club . Some how I think this factor will be greater amongst liverpool fans.

i.e. many of those born between 1980 and 1988 or so will be United fans,

not sure why you would come to that conclusion, is it based on the number of Irish players playing for United during those years? Certainly I was in the minority in the group of lads I grew up with.

Now if you were to say 1987-1992 I'd agree with you in relation to bandwagoners etc.

    anyway..

Yeah you could be right. Unfortunately over 30 people have responded to the thread already so I can't really add in additional questions now unfortunately.

I didn't want to go too indept, just get an idea of the forum as a whole.

    Man Utd.

United won their first league title in God knows how long in 1993. That would have people who were 12 (1981) defecting from Liverpool, Everton etc, and those who were say 6 (1987) and were getting their first jersey for going to school, training etc. It's certainly what I experienced all through primary school and I'm a 1985 kid.

I like the new question too. My Dad is a Man United fan (though not a big one). My little brother (21) is a Man Utd fan too.

In a 1984 kid, there was still a strong divide between United, Liverpool and Villa in my school

Ok I'll add the new question to the OP as a simple yes/no thing.

Did your family influence your decision to support that team?

Whoever's already posted can just edit their post.

Did your family influence your decision to support that team? - Yes probably, i was wearing an ireland or a liverpool hand me down almost before i understood the rules of football. My first clearest memory of watching liverpool on TV was Hillsbourough and watching my mother crying (obviously about more than the football) followed by the showdown in 1988-89 showdown with Michael Thomas scoring the goal
(i remember my brother bringing his video recorder from his flat back home to tape it! dont think he watched it too many times!)
