I have only very recently found out the people have been having alot of problems with the sportsline recently is it true? I wont have the money or the privilege to splash out on another AEG for a LONG time (Christmas at the earliest!) So if anyone has had any problems what so ever let me know so I can launch a pre emotive strike ASAP

As I said in another thread, running the gun on a 9.6 v battery causes

problems unless the guns internals are upgraded, on an 8.4 the gun has great

    rof anyway.

Mines run on a 8.4 and i have No problems with it. 10,000 fired, not a single

    problem :)

well my own Sportsline died a couple of weeks ago (chewed gears) but gotta say that I have been using it since December, most weekends and I've probably fired between 22,000 to 25,000 bb's through it (at an insane rate of fire using a 9.6V battery). It was fantastic before it's demise.

It is a fairly straight forward fix and should be back to new, or better than new - (metal bearing bushings etc.) once I get it fixed.

The day that it died, two others also died at the same skirmish, so their "in the news" at the mo. Both of them were running 9.6V batteries at the time of demise also!!

My advice - get one, dont run a 9.6V until you upgrade the internals. It will run fantastic using an 8.4V battery and give a ROF of about 750 rounds per minute, and last very well.

For the money, they are great.:)

The 9.6 doesnt really have any effect on the reliability of the sportline, the problem is that some of them have crap build quality and they chew gears like there made of jelly, it is a good AEG and if it hasnt given any hassle yet then i wouldnt worry too much.,
the sportline comes with cheapo blue bushings as standard and ive found that on most of the ones ive worked on that had chewed gears the bushings were slightly loose fitting and it looked like they shimed them by guessing.,
you could spend 15-20quid on upgrades for the sportline that will make sure it lasts for a very long time but it is only a small number of them that are failing.,:)

Funny, the bushings were mint (virginal even) condition in mine and made the ones in an unused Dboys M4 of mine seem more like they came from the Abi Titmuss factory for cheapo bushes, err sorry bushings.

    LOL., thats true A,
im not a big fan of the standard gears in the CA even the high ends but if ya spend a few yoyo's on shims and bushings it would really increase the life expectancy of the AEG,
thats pretty much all that lets the sportline down though, the barrel, motor, body ect are all really nice quality, enough for me to buy one., :)
although i do hate how so many of the armalites are grey but you corrected that.,;)

have to say i was going to buy one but the thread i made above a few peeps said avoid, i remember reading a thread that had everyone swearing by them.

airosft is unravelling on me day after day, and it seems when i DO eventually get started that ill need to really brush up on lingo and my handwork, as i see alot of people talking about stuff i aint got a clue on

is it essential for aeg's to get these " internal" upgrades from the box, or is it just for hardcore players?

id say id be a fairly active player, but not every weekend.

it also to me seems like although a gun may be x euros you have to add on a fair bit for these upgrades.

unfortunatly have to say this is an expensive pastime and sport to get into...especially for a poor guy like me on min wage..

there still a good gun though, if you want a good gun that shouldnt give you any trouble, go for either a Dboys M4, a JG G36c or the sportline,
the G36 being the best of the lot in my opinion and probably the cheapest too at around 140 for the full kit including battery and charger compared to 170 for the sportline package.

Get a JG then, and forget about all that nasty inner stuff :D

If anything does break, plenty of people here have spares and always help in the troubleshooting section.
An aeg gearbox is very simple, I have never had any trouble opening them, mechbox.com has videos of it being done, type 2 is the gearbox m4/m16s have, and are very easy to get into.

    To answer. No.

You should bear in mind that your AEG will eventually break due to wear and tear, but normally its cheap to fix.
But while your there why not do a few upgrades? :)

This is just how it starts... then you end up upgrading everything.

    Its very simple really.

    you have;

piston, < may give out eventually
    gears, < may give out
bushes, < may give out if plastic, some aegs have metal ones.
shims, < used to properly space gears, prolonging the above parts life span
motor, - not going to give out, its unlikely anyway
battery, - may wear out after ALOT of use
air nozzle, - forget about it
    tappet plate, - likewise
hop rubber, - will wear eventually, its designed to though.
    barrel. - keep it clean

A stock aeg, well its all good really, get metal bushes of the right size, shim it, and stock gears and piston should last a good while, if you go to a skirmish, people will help you replace or fit any of these parts if they go.

Ya that's a fantastic little thing. It'll definately keep you going till the G36c arrives.

the mp5k is plenty of aeg, you can scirmish it as a main.

It only lacks accuracy at range, rof and power are up there with full size aegs.

lol., believe me, you will not be dissapointed, i have a few high end AEGs that cost in or around 300-400quid and i still love the G36c that cost me 130squid. have a look back through the "photos of your kit" thread and you'll see my one in there somewhere.,:)

Don't look now. I popped open the gearbox of my B&T MP5 last weekend. It's older then most skirmishers...
Thought it was going to need a smackload of work.
It doesn't even need to be relubed.......And thats after about 75,000 rnds. The hopup might need to be replaced though.

    I must have gotten lucky.

That being said, you should have seen the gearbox in The Contractors M249. It was still firing at a great rate of knots even though one had nearly chewed it's way through the gearbox wall......

It was the darndest thing I've ever seen. - Well, that and "Daves Drogheda Death Charge.":D

Regarding the sportsline Like defenderdude I had my since Dec 07 but got only about half the use of his maybe less while I used a 9.6v for a couple of hours at the time of its demise there was a 8.4 in it I changed when i saw their one die. I also have D boys M4 with more bb through it and its working fine.
