I have been looking at a pair of earphones on ebay and everytime the item keeps being raised by user Bidder 1 or Bidder 2 Bidder 3 etc. I am begining to think the seller is bumping the price up himslef as Ive tried to buy the item three times and always Bidder 1/2/3 outbids me yet very rarely ends up buying the item

    Heres an example.

Or is Bidder 1/2/3 etc displayed for users who dont want to show your id or something. Although I dont know why youd want to hide your ID on ebay.

eBay replaces the actual bidder ID with numbers so as to protect bidder identity. The other people don't see your ID either.

Ah right, thanks, but why would you want to hide your id? Bit odd.

I think it's up to the seller to set up private auctions, though they maybe go automatically private over a certain amount of money.

eBay are hiding the bidders identity on pretty much all auctions now to prevent fake Second Chance Offer message being sent to bidders.

FYI, those earphones are fake. Stay away from chinese sennheiser earphones as they are poor quality ripoffs.

Having anonymous bidding would appear to open up cheap items to abuse by the seller.

Would seem to allow an item going to cheap for the seller's liking to bump it up a little...

Stay away from most Chinese rip-offs. My wife got a ''cheap' handbag that way...not the best purchase ever!ft2.jpg:mad:
