    Hello there legal People,

I prepared a case against a certain well known company to take them to Small Claims. I then realised that this Court has no teeth in regard to getting them to cease and desist from certain unsavoury business practices. Certainly I could get my money back I feel but really what is at issue is the cynical manner in which the company is being run. There is perhaps the longest thread on boards.ie relating to this company in the Broadband forum.

What I would like to know is where I could find a publicly minded Citizen-solicitor who might be prepared to take the case on? Is there perhaps some legal organisation that works for the Public Good? I believe the evidence I have collected regarding the malpractices of this company to be incontrovertible, and think that prosecution would be of beneifit to all consumers.

I do hope I am not breaching forum rules with this post. It is a request for general advice rather than specific legal advice.

    Best Regards

    Seán

I'm not going to look at the Broadband forum because I've no interest in seeing what the matter specifically is or indeed offering you legal advice. What follows isn't legal advice.

Comreg is the Statutory Communications Regulator - they deal with complaints against Broadband Suppliers, Mobile Phone Companies, Phone Companies etc

FLAC is a voluntary Free Legal Advice Centre

Citizens Information is a Government run website about lots of things, among them - your rights and how to enforce them

I'm sorry to say that I think it's mildly perhaps a bad idea for you to post your intentions on a public internet forum, but that's strictly your prerogative and I'm not going to take that away from you.

FYI, the District court lacks jurisdiction to grant the (injunctive) relief you are looking for here. At least, that's the relief I'm assuming you are purporting to reference by 'cease and desist', which is an American term with no precise corelative form in this jurisdiction.

I'm unsure if there will be too many responses to this thread revealing the names of solicitors or firms that will take on this sort of case, but there's the opportunity for people to PM you if they so wish.

I would advise you to edit out the absolute giveaway part of your post that would direct readers' attention to the company in question - I would normally do that myself, but I'm feeling slightly less dictator-like than normal. Must be the weather. Good luck with your crusade.
