Personally, I'm glad people spoke out and came in big numbers. Comments like this however are quite angering:Beijing Olympic torch relay spokesman Qu Yingpu told the BBC: "This is not the right time, the right platform, for any people to voice their political views.

When is it the right time then, for the Chinese to be held accountable for their Human rights record, in any case it's the perfect time, when they wanted to see it run smoothly, I think it would be deeply wrong for people not to rally their disgust about what they're doing,

The Tibet issue have been going on ages, it's not a new issue - it's just escalated. This is the time to focus on Chinas human rights issues and their invasion of other nations.

I met a guy yesterday at a party that stopped eating Chinese food because of this.

    (for the chinese food)

They should never have been given it in the first place though.

Anyone seen the Penn and Tellar episode on Mother Teresa, Ghandi and the Dali Lama? (I'm pretty sure they're all misspellings, Not too fussed)

After seeing that I dont think Tibet should be given back. Sure, the Dali would be happy, dont think his new slaves would be though.

yeah, tibet was actually worse off with the dali in charge, he sure ruled with a iron fist

sport and politics should not mix, China's terrrible human rights are well known, i wonder will the UK/USA's invasion of foreign countries/prisoner treatments in guantanamo bay and iraq be protested against come the next olympics in those countries........

Didn't China have conditions on getting the Olympics whereby they'd have to improve human rights in certain areas?

If they haven't meet their obligations then a boycott is in order if the Olympics isn't moved to another country.

There's no chance of the Olympics being moved to another country, they've been getting ready for them for years

I loved how Sky news talked down the "protests" as the torch was moving through the streets. Then "Sky News on the Hour" ... "BREAKING NEWS! - MASSIVE PROTESTS DISRUPT THE TORCH!"...

    Make up your mind !

There is always a protest going on in Central London, and to be honest the majority of people couldn't give a monkeys....................

It's a bit 2 faced really. We have no problem importing cheap goods from them but because Free Tibet and the Dalai Lama are kind of trendy politics, hippies and so called liberals want to get involved and make noise.

I lived in China around the time of the Tsunami in South Asia and I actually had one of my college students say to me I wish that Tsunami hit China so there wouldnt be so many people here as lots would have died!!! I just stood there mouth wide open and at that point gave up trying to undo years of these now adults being tought complete disregard for human life.

Apparently the protests were "vile" and carried out by "A few Tibetan seperatists"...according to China.

I reckon it'd be great if they managed to actually succeed in getting the torch. Looking forward to seeing what happens in Paris!

People have the right to protest and they should exercise this right lest it be taken from them, so sayeth the Great Alaundo

According to 2FM news the flame has been extinguished. Watching Sky News now, all seems peaceful enough. No pictures of the torch

I heard that "free tibet" people are paid for protests,

I saw pictures of Tibetan protesters appeared in both London and Paris and attacked a crippled chinese torch carrier.

I did not see much footage of Chinese people supporting the torch and Beijing Olympics in BBC, even though the Chinese demonstrators out numbered "free tibet" guys in both London and San Francisco.

I don't believe a bit of what BBC says about China any more. But I still like their animal programmes.

You should add "cited unconfirmed report that" with it, before you show a guess to other people. You do not learn any from BBC, do you?
