When I came to use my PC about 30 mins ago (app. 4:30pm) I could not connect to Internet (UTV Clicksilver). I noticed the DSL was off on router. I rebooted the router and it was fine.

If the dsl light is off on your modem then it's probably a fault with the phone line/filters. Try the usual, swap filters, unplug the phone, etc.

If the dsl light is on, check can you connect to the modem, you can check the status of your connection. If it says you have no connection then probably utv service has fallen on it's arse.

If it says you are connected but don't have any internet access then it's probably the utv DNS server(s) that are down. You do have internet access it's just that you can't resolve the url's to ip addresses. There are a number of public dns servers that you could use, you set them in the TCP/IP properties in network connections on your computer.

Hi my UTV connection went down yesterday afternoon and is still down. DSL light on and router says connected. Rang UTV this morning after half an hour wait they didn't seem to know anything about the problem.......

With luck it may be up this evening.....Thank goodness I don't rely on the service to make a living.

Seems to be a problem with utv at the moment.

    How big a problem?

I was thinking of signing up to Clicksilver, but if it's a terribly unreliable service...

Same thing happened to me Auvers, but its been happening for the past few days. My internet is down when I come home from work and then comes up at around 10pm. It's happening on too many days for it to be coincidence. I contacted BT support and they weren't really helpful, first I was passed around between 5 or 6 people (due to being switched over to a business line in the next few days) as they where confused as to if I needed to talk to residential or business, or accounts or tech and 1 tech person who kept trying to convince me I didn't have broadband with them and that it had been disconnected in December

Finally when I got through the guy hadn't the foggiest why my line was down. He kinda seemed a bit miffed that I knew about routers and had already tried all the obvious options leaving him with nothing to recommend. He made up something like "its because you are being moved from residential to business" which is a crock tbh. I was assured by BT that i'd experience no down time with the switch over as my line wasn't being changed at all, only my account details on their end where (i.e. i'd be assigned a static IP and my cap would be removed)

I almost expect my internet to be down again this evening, if it is i'll probably be on some time after to 10pm when it comes back up to confirm
