Hi members, have been reading your posts recently and you all seem very expertly informed in the field of video editing, especially Hugh C , Decob, lodepole and many more.
Am making a video of greyhound racing in Australia which i filmed with my sony digital dcr-hc85e camcorder. Have about 5 hours filmed which i need to edit. They are on mini tape discs which i need i suppose to put on dvd and then work on the editing( your right i dont have much of a clue)
I must buy final cut pro or adobe premier ?? can i use my PC ?
So i wish to hire one of you guys to work part time at an agreed rate or daily rate to put this documentary together.....look forward to hearing from you

I'd probably go apple if I were you and based on your editing abilities maybe Final Cut express bundled in. In the unlikely event you get p'ed off apple - just boot into xp -

Hiya jack, id say dont jump the guna and go editing it yourself, you could get yourself into a situation where you have to hire an editor to fix any errors! having said that, plus, final cut 101 will only give you basics, little or nothing in way of effects or audio work. look at your messages, ive just pm'd you about this as i am an editor working for a national broadcaster

I wouldnt go leaping in and buying final cut just yet - depending on the money your willing to shell out I would say look at a few post production houses, get costings for dry hire as well as wet hire. If you go for dry hire and need an editor feel free to drop me a line, i'm just finished college and have been editing for the past two and a half years and looking for as much work experience as i can get.
Best of Luck With the Documentary :)
