I believe RTE NL have awarded the contract for DTT Rollout. Would anyone have any information on the winning company/companies and what DTT solutions/products will be rolled out in Ireland?

None as yet. Still bidding in process for the muxes (other than the RTE mux).

No, I don't mean the contracts/licencing of the Muxes (organised by Comreg), I mean the contract to upgrade RTENL's analogue terrestrial broadcast system to a digital terrestrial system.....

That sort of info you find at etenders.gov.ie since RTE is a state company. The contract for equipment went out on 05th of September last year for submission on 03rd of October last year. See;http://www.etenders.gov.ie/Search/Show/Search_View.aspx?id=SEP091262 The rollout will probably be done by RTE NL engineers rather than sub-contracted out to others. Again I don't work for RTE so that's my guess. RTE NL maintains the analogue network and will be upgrading the network to digital owning the transmitter towers itself. It will of course rent towers and transmitter equipment probably too to others. However the DTT pay operators may decide to build their own network to be independent of it or who knows may like to take a stake in RTE NL and thus the network. Who knows.

Indeed, but who did RTENL award this contract to?

I don't know the answer to that am afraid. Only someone in RTE NL would know the answer to that.

I know a vendor has been ( or nearly ) choosen to upgrade the microwave transmission network. I would assume RTE NL will get the contract for DTT and contract out the work to vendors etc.

There were a few job adds around last Dec/Jan for project engineers, transmission engineers etc so i would assume this is what they were for.

Little birdie in the know tells me the microwave network needs to be upgraded by end of the the summer in prep for DTT upgrade...

They have changed Woodcock from Maghera rebroadcast to fibre already.
