Getting HD TV, should I get a HD Box without Sub ?

    Just thinking about this.

I'm thinking of buying a new HDTV. But here is my problem. I only have standard Sky. Now, from what I hear, most HD TV's don't do a great job at upscaling SDTV feed.

Would I be better off forking out a few hundred Euros then for a HDTV box which would upscale much better than the TV doing the job from the ordinary sky box.

    Just 2 other questions.

    1. I presently have a Sky+ box. I'm guessing that a HDTV box will fit in with the standard double cables going into the Sky+ box and no other alterations will be needed ?
    2. Will I be able to use the Sky+ features of the HDTV box without a HDTV sub ?

Any idea what sort of a price I should be paying for a 2nd hand Sky HD box ?

I've taken a look on Ebay and prices range from 200 to 300 Euros. A bit expensive if you ask me.

Nice though considering that ITV and even C4 are launching HD channels. Will RTE also follow suit within a few years ?

Channel 4 already have a HD channel. Regarding Irish HD channels there is a test channel part of the DTT Trial.
