I am in the process of drawing up plans for my new house and I am debating the following question: should I have a stove in my kitchen along with a fireplace in my sitting-room?Would it be worthwhile? I know one thing: I am definitely going to have an American style fridge freezer-they are fab.

I love ranges, I don't think a house is a home without one.

They have inserts for fireplaces that incorperate stoves, these are much more efficent. Most of the heat from an open fire just goes up the chimney.
