Circumcision

Hi all,

I was told by my doctor during the week that I need to get a circumcision. That's no problem. I'm not to worried about that. It's just I'm wondering how long I'll need off work or if it will be treated as a medical condition and counted as sick leave? Don't really want to tell the job yet cos I don't know when it will happen. What is the pain like after and also does it matter if I have a piercing down there?

Those are questions you really need to discuss with your doctor to deal with the specifics.

Run a search here - there are a couple of threads on the issue, some quite extensive.

Most people need to take a few days to a week off, but sexual activity won't be possible for 4-6 weeks.

all you have to tell the job is youre getting surgery and youll be out for a while - they arent entitled to know the details.

This is a better thread. The real question is not how long you will need to take off work, but how long you will need to take off.

I had it done a month or so ago,or medical reasons aswell and im all the better for it,
i was sore for a few days and uncomfortable for a couple of weeks, a week should suffice if your job isnt too strenuos(sp)

yeah take a week off. It's not that sore. I mean, it's not a walk in the park, but neither is it getting mugged in that park.
