As stated the bloody driver fails to install states l error 0001, I tried installing from driver cd and also from gigabyte website latest driver... but doesn't seem to work
I'm bloody baffled, no audio for the last few days I need my music god dammit!!
    Any help appreciated.

It was a clean, new install nothing to conflict with it.

go to programs, acessorys, system tools, clik system summary, software environment, windows audio audio serv/service should be RUNNING.rightclick it ,set to auto mode,ie runs all the time.
DOWNload drivermax, run it,install it,click, import all drivers, it,ll send all mobo drivers,to new folder ,MY drivers, even if you reinstall winxp, that folder will be there, which means you can dl drivermax and use it to install, export any driver for your pc motherboard ,eg reinstall sata hd drivers,or hd realtek audio drivers,go to your mobo maker website,or driverfinder website to download the reltek drivers.or google realtek website.look on the gigabyte website, audio drivers 4 your mobo, search model 570 whatever mobo you have

Hi Gamer, Are you basically saying do a fresh install and reinstall my drivers using that program?
I was hoping for a less intensive approach, but I've tried everything so it doesnt look likely, thanks for the link tho, I'm downloading as I type,

no, dl drivermax, install the prog, do ,FULL driver import, it setups up folder ,MY DRIVERS, use import ALL DRIVERS ,it looks at pc,mobo, finds all drivers ,copys em to folder,if you ever need drivers in 5years they,ll be in that folder, mouse ,sata, video etc,in subfolders. what i mean is go to device manager ,control panel, remove realtek hd audio drivers. THEN reboot,if you have WINDOWS sp2 installed,it should autimatically install realtek drivers.i,m not saying reinstall winxp.are you sure windows audio Service is enabled ,is the realtek onboard sound device, enabled in bios, press del or function key after reboot, to go to bios, or join driverguide ,free service, search realtek hd audio driver windows xp, google driverguide website.
driverguide takes 18mins approx to find all drivers if you have fast cpu,1.5ghz p4.
You can coy mydrivers to cd,handy if you ever nee
d to reinstall the os. , have you a install, driver cdrom 4that pc?

    Heres my advice:
    * Download Driver Sweeper (Freeware) from here
    * Extract driver sweeper to your desktop and reboot your computer in safe mode (Hit F8 while computers starting up and a menu will appear with this as a option)
    * Run Driver Sweeper and remove the Realtek-Sound while in safe mode
    * Reboot into normal windows mode and see if it driver installation works

Driver sweeper will remove all traces of Realtek from your computer so you can do a fresh install, hopefully thatll sort it for ya :)

It probably would have been quicker to do a full reinstall to be honest.

well its good to have a folder with all your drivers, driver cdroms get lost and damaged ,when you are selling the pc ,burn mydrivers to a cdr disk.it saves drivers 4 the mobo plus any devices ,videocards etc you may have installed.
hard disk space is cheap,it,ll save time in the long term.
I dont know would the realtek drivers on my pc be compatible with your mobo.
