Ring the tax office and let them know you've moved jobs. You'll need your pps number and your new employers registered number. They will then send your tax credits to your new company.

^--- what she said. I've done that before and it worked fine.

In my experience it's worth calling the tax office regardless because it's one of those things that doesn't seem to get dealt with quickly enough otherwise.

+ 1. I always call the tax office when I move jobs, regardless of whether I've handed a P45 in or not.. and I never get emergency taxed.

thanks folks ill give them a call so, my last company already f**ked up my p45 by losing it and with my experience thus far in my new company i dont exactly have any faith in them processing the p45 correctly when i do hand it in!!

    cheers :D

  • I've sort of the same thing....... just left a job a week ago and starting a new one on Monday - haven't received the P45 yet. Will I just ring the tax office as well?

I'd ring anyway, yes. You do need your new employers registered number so you may need to get this from them when you start on monday.

  • OK I'll do that. I was emergency taxed for about 4 months last year due to the tax office and my employer royally screwing up, so I'm petrified it'll happen again!
