Going to throw this out there as there hasnt been a tournament in a while and if the response is good we will run with it.

Saturday 24th May 2008


Venue Next Generation Loughlinstown Weigh ins 9.00am

Competition starts 10am

5 man teams at the following weights

-68kg, -75kg, -83kg, -92kg, +92kg

Looking for 8 teams minimum. €100 per team so €20 per member

Winning Team €250 mimimum 1st prize

medals for 2nd and third.

This is a TEAM competitionIf you lose your fight but your team wins overall, eg 3-2, 4-1 your team progresses.

If your club cant field a complete team you can use another clubs spare guys. Last time we did this "team made up on the day" did very well as I recall!

Next Generation can definitely field two teams and we might even have spares so post if you think your club can attend and I will run with it if its a goer.

Usual rules, submission only ie no points system, usual list of illegals heelhooks, neck cranks, spiking your opponents and if its a draw ie no submission, its a draw!!! no rock paper scissors or first to a takedown. If the team draws, you will number off and we will pull two numbers out of a hat and those guys or girls regardless of weight will fight the decider!!

That's the same day as the MMA League Limerick, any chance you could push it forward a week to the 19th or to the 10th May (3rd is the Bank Holiday)?

Yeah Dave, the week after would be better, i could probably bring a team down! would be good for experience anyway!!

Didn't want to clash with Phil Miligrase seminar on 19th ok what about 24th May as the 3rd of May is the week before Munster open and that might be a bit much for people on the road two weekends in a row.

I'd like to already advertise for a heavyweight for our team which has no hope of finding one in our slim gym! heaviest guy we have is probably me!

Spartan MMA will probably be looking for heavyweights as well, plenty of guys sub 83 and one or two at 92Kg. I suppose Roper and I have to start offering incentives and perk packages now

Same day as the revised date for Marty's promotion in Antrim, at this point though it looks like every weekend will clash with somebody! We are already committed to the Antrim show, but I might be able to send fighters to both, I'll let you know.

It is but they only clash since the antrim promotion changed dates. It is going to clash with something, im sure its probably FA cup final day too or something else but if anyone want to compete and doesnt have a team, there will no doubt be a vacancy on a team somewhere else. Particularly if you are in the special weight categories of +92 and -68kg ie not mr average joe.

Is there a cap on teams? I'm just thinking that Spartan MMA will prob be able to field two. I imagine SBG will have the numbers for two, prob yourselves and SBGNS (what are they called now?) as well.

I think a 16 team limit will suffice. I dont think we will get that but you never know. If that happens I think we can run it all off in less than 50 individual matches. There is no overtime nor first to a takedown nor rock paper scissors. If you draw, you draw. If your team draws, one of the team will be randomly selected to face off against a random choice on the other team, ( so yes your +92kg could face your -68kg in a decider!!)

This Saturday Guys!!

Weigh ins are now 930am - 10am Rules 1015am and competition at 1030am. Centre opens at 9am and there is a sauna for any of you last minute weight cutters. We will allow .5kg or 1lb leeway.

The only sub tournie in Ireland with both money and medals! and of course the NOGI CUP for your club to keep.

If going M50, Head south and exit at Junction 16 marked on map Cherrywood. Straight through 2 roundabouts, over a bridge and leisure centre is second right "Loughlinstown Drive" Follow road around to Leisure centre, you cant miss it, big building, barb wire fence Map attached.

By Bus No.7 bus terminus is the leisure centre so jump on it. fall asleep ask driver to wake yo up when you are there.

Dart to Dun Laoire, 111 bus also stops at leisure centre.

I think every team has a vacancy for budding heavyweights!

I'll definitely be there and I would say that we might be able to field a slightly understrength and overweight team . We might be going begging for heavys on the day but we'll get there I'm sure.
