I'm looking to get insured on my new motor, I'm a first time driver, and now own an opel corsa 1.0 99. I was quoted something like €2,000 from QuinnDirect, just wondering what peoples experiences with insurance companies are and what was the best quotation you received and from which company.

Have a try with this and see what quote you get.....

AFAIK quinn are the only people who will insure a driver with no expierence.

My first time insurance was with quinn and was about 1750 on a 1.9 TDI.

I found quinn the only ones to quote me online for the cars i wanted, and after jumping through a lot of hoops, i found out they were actually quoting me the cheapest.

So i decided to go with them, and gradually build up a no claims bonus that i will eventually move to another insurer (ones with more bells and whistles etc).

Try AIB car insurance, they are very good and i m very sure u will get cheaper than this. my first car was 1.4 lt and i paid €1,670. 2,000€ is bit over the top or u might even give a go to Tesco Car insurance.

I found Quinn Direct to be the cheapest. I'm female 22 years old, and no previous driving experience and a provisional and they insured me for only 850euro! It's a 1.2L Petrol. Not bad! A friend of mine same age and with provisional license is insured for 1300 with them. His car is at least a 1.4L petrol..

Axa seem to be the cheapest, €1500 fully comp, €236 up front and €159 monthly installments over nine months I think I will go with them

FBD gave me fully comp and all the extras (protected NCB, open drive etc.) for 1600 on a 1.6 Golf. That's with 1 yr driving experience and full license 20 yr old male.
    Not too shabby

    Necro bump :)
I'm 29 and just got my Learner Permit in Dublin.
Between haphazard websites and wildly differing prices, the whole insurance thing is a minefield, and very frustrating IMO.

Here are some quotes I got, which may hopefully help others in considering who to check out for quotes.

FBD - 1300 euro (TPFT) or 1200 (TP)
^ That's a "quick quote". When I tried to get a full quote.... the website form didn't work.

Hibernian quoted me 1235 euro (TPFT)

Bestquote.ie is a real pain to use if your particular car isn't in their list. Mine wasn't on their list, so in order to proceed, I had to choose the nearest quivilent car to my own.
The best of their quotes was 1355 euro (TPFT)

Quinns website was also a pain because my car isn't in their list and I had to choose the nearest equivilent >:(
Anyway, in the end, the quote was 2 grand. (TPFT)

AXA quoted me... OVER TWO GRAND! (TPFT)

......25plus.ie quoted me.... THREE GRAND! (TPFT)
The form on the AA website wasn't working for me.

    Womoma,
At this stage i think you should know not to bump threads that are a year and a half old. The info in it may not be correct as things have changed a lot in the last 2 years. Start a new one if you wish.
    Thanks.
