SKY TV Channel Packages

Well we might be upgrading from Chourus Digital to Sky digital shortly but the Sky brochure has got me a bit confused. We are going to be ordering a basic variety mix + bonus mix package. But the thing I am wondering about is the 200 non-subscription TV and radio channels included. Does anyone know what will be included in these?? Particularly in the Kids and Knowledge channels because we seem to be losing all of these by changing to SKY.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Yes, you'll get all or most of the non-subscription channels which are free-to-air.

Free kids channels include CITV, CBBC*, Tiny Pop, CBeebies*

I don't know of any free Knowledge channels - the likes of Discovery and National Geographic Channel are all encrypted and on the Knowledge Mix.

*not on EPG, need to be tuned in manually

to be honest, most of the knowledge channels are pretty rubbish. They repeat everything over and over again. You're getting basically one good week of viewing for your year long subscription.

Same with the movie channels. Repetitive poor quality films. You'd be better off going to xtra vision and saving the subscription fee. You can still get new movies off box office

If you're into sport, get those, they're the only extra worth anything, other than that, the basic channels are the best value.

And when your subscription runs out next year, you can keep the free to air channels gratis (by then, everything worth watching will be available for free online anyway.)
