    Hi all,

Just a quick question. I'm headin over to Africa this summer and trying to raise some sponsorship money. Was hoping to organise a charity gig to do it. Most gigs i've played though, we've had to rent the venue and just about broke even. Are there any places around that don't require a fee or that might even waiver the fee on a (usual) quiet night if i was able to guarrantee a big turn out. Anyway would appreciate a bit of help here.

    Cheers,

    Kev

Depends how good your negotiation skills are tbh. What's the official cause?
If it's not going to a registered charity you might have a bit of convincing to do.

It's a charity called Camara. It sets up computers in schools in various different countries in africa. It's a registered charity that has been up a running for a number of years.

I suppose the best thing to do is just to start ringing around? You'll get nothin if you don't ask i suppose. But if anybody has organised somethin simialr in the past please let me know.....

Try The Cobblestone in Smithfield or The Annesley House in North Strand.

Trying to confirm a venue (which shoud be done over next few days with any luck)! The band i'm in which has just started is called Riot Soul

    www.bebo.com/riotsoulmusic

There are a couple of other bands that are interested - one would be classic rock style while others would e more indie so if they do jump on board there will be a good mixture

P.S. cheers lauragoesmad for the input. much appreciated!!
