Question about surround sound on 360

This might be more suited to an audio/visual forum, but I've recently moved apartments and have convinced my other half to allow me to connect my Creative THX surround sound system to the TV. She likes it, which is great, but I haven't got it up & running yet.

My question is - currently the sound connection for my 360 goes into the TV. If I wanted the sound to come from the Creative system, do I need to plug it directly into this? Is it possible to have the 360 plugged into the TV, then the TV plugged into the Creative system, so that I can have the DVD/TV/360 all plugged into the Creative? The Creative has its own amp so I don't strictly need something to power the speakers.

Not sure of the correct Technical terms for this but here goes:

On the cables that come from the Xbox, there should be a port for connecting an optical cable. If you have an optical in cable on your sound system, then just plug it in there and it should work!

At least it worked for me, I've got a Pioneer system!

    Yeah he's right rainyface.

Get an optical cable to run from the av cable port in to the creative amp, select aux on the amp and bobs your aunties husband.

Not sure about getting your tv to work through it though. It depends what you've got plugged into your tv!
