Real actual working night vision googles will set you back a pretty penny.

Just be careful with those helmets, I have a Mich2002 from ebaybanned and the strap is so sh1te I'll have to "manufacture" a new one.

    Very good quality though

And by pretty penny he means in the realms of the four digit figure. Before the decimal point. First digit will most likely be in the realm of 2 or 3. Do the math.

a working pair would be too expensive, but a fake/prop set would be cool if you could get your hands on them

Well, that depends on what you define too expensive to be and/or are completely insane ;)

A decent gen. 3 night-scope (as opposed to goggles) will cost you in and around $2500/3500 if you look in eBay. Since gen.4 stuff came out the price has dropped, but not by much since gen.4 is still comparatively new.

As for goggles I dunno exact prices but use the scope prices as a general rule of thumb and you can be rest-assured it wont be cheap.

i have a bresser? monocular that i got in lidle a while ago thats not to bad and has a option to attach a stand, maybe you could modify it to go on your helmet and all for under €400 :)

Actual NV goggles to fit that would cost high 4 digit figures. That's if you can even get your hands on some, they're rare as rocking horse dung these days. You can pick up reconditioned Russian ones with new tubes for about 7 to 9k for Gen3 that should fit that.

King Arms do a fake NVG that looks pretty damn close to the current issue one for about $50-60 that I've seen before, I think on Redwolf or WGC. It's a moulded plastic one with perspex lenes. Does nothing but sit there. And, in fairness, it'll be a hell of a lot lighter to wear than any actual NVG/M, cheapy type or not.

well i dont have the nvg but i do have the mount.

if you are looking for that (as per the helmet in grey) you need one of 2 types

the pvs 7 which if i remember correctly is a bino type or pvs14 which is monocular type (well thats my reading of it anyways). just as you see that someone offers a different one. there is a website i bumped into show gen1 to gen 4...let me put it this way gen 4 versus gen 1-- its the difference between night and day. youmight also find gen 4 is restricted. so the US dont like it going on sale (apparently) having said that its all over ebay. as Lemming and KD said, you need to check your lotto slips...

the bit you clip to the helmet comes under the name rhino arm or at least some call it that

you will also need a thing called a J arm for the monocular. the j arm attaches to the nvg monocular and the rhino arm. not sure what the other piece for the pvs 7 type are called.

the good news is it seems to be the same rhino arm that you would clip into the base plate on the helmet and you add the j arm for monocular or the other piece for the pvs7 type

be careful with those base plates, some have the wrong measurements for the rhino arm. might be worth asking

i have a rhino arm, j arm and strap to attach to the helmet. the later mich style helmet have a different clip (not the y type). they are all over ebay as well.

i have to say the rhino arm is much lighter then you expect...i think mine was around 60 or 70 dollars...

one other thing the j arm if not with the rhino part was a bitch to find...so try and get it all together

the thing on the top of the grey hemet is an ir strobe...you can find them on ebay as well. i got one from a chap in aussieland. they pulse a light and the black cover restrict it to the ir range thereby only visible while using nvg. its how a team know who is who at night...dont do what i did whic is look at the strobe uncovered...still have friggen spots in my eyes LOL they also have the ir tabs and ir reflective flags on the helmet

    Here's a G&P fake nvg on redwolf:
    http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=15381

Although it does specifically say it CANNOT be mounted to a helmet

ok so why in hell do they sell the helmets with mounts if there so bloody hard to find goggles to fit them, its like buying shoes without laces lol,

Kdouglas what u say about super gluing the dummy ones to the top  that wud work right?

Because, like most things in airsoft, it's just for the look.

I'd say you can mount that G&P one, you'd just need to buy a mount for it, it doesn't seem to come with one. I could be wrong, but thats all it looks like. There seems to be a snap connector on top of them where an arm would mate to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

they are probably gen1 or gen2, they work, but they're only ok, gen3 and gen4 is the latest stuff available and is much better apparently, ive only ever used gen1 myself and found it ok at best

As falls already said (and I've been rather fortunate enough to be allowed used someone's Gen.3 albeit briefly), the difference between Gen.1 and Gen.3 is literally night and day.

FYI: That helmet is $32.99 (apprix €21) on ebay. although with shipping the total will be almost as much as ebaybanned's price, if you buy a few items you could save on shipping. Ebaybanned's "free" shipping is actually built into the product cost. http://cgi.ebay.ie/Milspec-USMC-Helmet-w-NVG-PVS-7-Goggle-Mount-HT-17-TAN_W0QQitemZ280214254344QQihZ018QQcategoryZ36076QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

    I got my pvs-14 from http://www.nightvisiongear.co.uk/.
They sell the helmet mounts as well.

They are based in Ireland and might have some ex-demo models as well.
At least they did when i bought mine.

Here's a link to a site with what look like good NV.

I was toying with the idea for a while but decided it would be to expencive for how often i'd use it.

I night vision rifle scope would probably be more useful, IMO, though I don't think they are legal here.

    Not for Lemming

Don't put ideas in my head ... I'd like to buy a car sometime this century :p

Last time someone said something suggestive in a joking manner like this ... well ... we all know what happened (as did my bank account) :D

Best suggestion I've made in the last decade. (Even if it was a joke!)
