Hi, im trying to format a 4gb usb pen drive, becuase windows wont open it, telling me it needs to be formatted. When i try to format it with windows, it wont work. Ive tried recovery software to no avail. Does anyone know a way to force windows to format it or any other software that will do the trick, thanks:)

The drive is borked. Get a refund/RMA if you can.

Does indeed sound like the drive is dead, if its old , move on and get a replacement for €30ish or upgrade to 8/16GB! If in warranty then case it up!

Yes, exactly. GParted is on the live cd under system tools I think.

Honestly, if these keys are acting up - just bin them.
It's going to fail big-style when you least expect it.

I've a 10 year warranty on my 2Gb key which I got back in 2006... I've replaced it once already! Ha Ha!
