Do you ever wonder that whenever we think we see something at the corner of our eye, and we look and see there's nothing, that something could've actually been there? If that makes sense. I mean, what if we do all see paranormal phenomena when we're not completely concentrating? I say this because today I was in the girls' bathroom in college and I could've sworn, at the corner of my eye, that I saw something standing in one of the cubicles, but when I looked properly, there was nothing there.

Why would it be there if you couldnt see it when you looked properly? If you look at a person for example, the image and shape get burned momentarily into your retina. When you look at something swiftly without concentrating(the corner of your eye),you're carrying the merest shadow of an image onto the next place you look.If this is something inanimate and deserted,it'll give the image a "screen" to view on.Lets not be grasping at straws, here. If you saw something that was truly inexplicable you'd be able to describe it much better than "swearing something was there" for a fraction of a second.

I can't say that it is or isn't possible as I wouldnt know, but that happened me a lot in the last month of me being pregnant on my little boy.

I kept on seeing something in the corner of my eye and when I looked there was nothing. It freaked me out a bit as I do believe in the paranormal etc

I said it to my hubby as he can sense these things and I was scared there might be something in the house, but he assured me there was nothing.

I happened to mention it to the midwife at my next checkup in the hospital and it turns out that seeing something in the corner of your eye is a symptom of your blood pressure going up (if even for a minute or so).

So maybe your blood pressure just went up for a bit today or maybe its a ghostie:)

Lorrs33. . . its very possible. I'm a great believer in the paranormal and I have been to 3 mediums in the last 3 years and have had 3 fantastic readings.

I too often get the little glow in the corner of my eye and its always my left eye that notices this glow just beside my left shoulder.

My Father passed away 3 years ago, and I never mentined these glows to anyone except my mother. She has not experienced it herself but when I had my last reading the guy who did it told me about the glows I was noticing in the left eye over my left shoulder and that it was my father watching me. This guy did not know my father had passed away as I obviously did not offer any information, and it was the first thing the medium said to me. so its not like he knew, or could have guessed!!

Wow ChewChew that sounds really interesting. And the fact that you saw a glow.

Just to say that when I had the high blood pressure , I was seeing something dark in the corner of my eyes.
So the fact that you saw a glow inspires me that at least something that is medical and something that is paranormal can be more easily differentiated.

Yeah, the corner of the eye is believed to be the window into the paranormal realm....

It could be possible specially if it was dark. In the military we were taught that when moving at night without nightvision gear to look out the corner of your eyes because you can see sharper.

Never heard that before.Certainly the third eye would be considered in that way.

Yes I have seen an optician because I wear glasses full time. So thankfully, I am extremely positive that it is not a health warning.

I am fully aware of my surroundings and too take comfort in the fact that I have someone I love with all my heart watching me from a greater place, however he chooses to let me know that!!

Degsy you've been warned already, a weeks holidays for you.

And DaveMcG, it's really starting to look like you're just trying to see how sarcastic you be without breaking the charter (which you really need to read again). Any more an it will be a break for you as well.

That's actually what prompted me to start this post. You see, yeah I do see things at the corner of my eye which I can rarely describe. But when I came into the girls' bathroom, at the corner of my eye, I saw a man in the cubicle, wearing a heavy grey jacket with pockets, that's all I remember really. But the jacket was so distinct. I was frightened that I could recall it.

Lorrs33 is there any chance you have a relative or someone you know who passed on that wore a heavy coat??

I wouldnt be afraid of this. . . It's obviously someone who is happy for you to see them, and they clearly do not want to harm you. It's probably someone just passing by, letting you know they are ok ???? but you definitly shouldnt be afraid of it!!

I've also noticed this myself, like a shimmer of light at the corner of my eyes occasionally. Had my eyes tested and all is well:confused:

This happens a fair bit, pretty common actually, and can be developed fairly easily if you're open to it OP.

I love this forum! Thanks you guys, I feel so much better about this!

Next time it happens, just accept it for what it is. Give the guy (or whoever) an unspoken acknowledgement. (Mentally say hi :))

KtK you sound very confident that it actually is someone, to the point that you would say 'hi' to them... What makes you sure that that is "what it is"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

No, KtK sounds very confident that the OP believes it is a person. Taking that into account the OP may get some peace of mind from saying hello - also what harm can it do?

Thanks 6th. That would be where Im coming from. No one but the op has experienced this, and all I am doing is saying, dont fear it, dont worry about it, just acknowledge it. It cannot cause one iota of harm to do it, and may be reassuring to the op.

I have my own reasons for suggesting it, but with respect, I know better than to get into that with you, Dave. :)

There is something else medical to be aware of. We all have what are commonly known as "floaters" in our eyes. Its like tiny particles in the fluid on our eyes that float about. Generally you seem them when looking at a white surface. Even when you are looking straight ahead, they move around with the fluid in your eyes. It could be one explanation. There was a thread in bio and med about it last year.

Our peripheral vision can be deceiving, often picking up brighter areas or "hot spots" as distractions.

However on a more paranormal level, isnt there a theory about hooden folk who we sometimes glimpse? I cant remember what they are called.

I always see things out of the corner of my eye and tbh iut always scares the life out of me! Even though I know there is nothing there. FOr instance I was watching a movie on my ipod last night and I was in bed lights off. Then I started seeing shapes of people every now and again. Even when I stared at the shapoe for a while it didnt move until I turned the light on and it would be gone......

I've had the situation when i've seen dark figures or blurs from the corners of my eyes, happens regularly to me, along the lines of maybe 2-3 times a month.

I'm not saying it is or isn't but i read about this before, can't remember where, thats its possible that due to being conditioned as a young child that you dont see whats really there, you learn to just ignore whats perfectly viewable so as you grow up you from time to time have these 'glimpses' or moments of 'unconsis vision', you concentrate looking straight in front of you or where attracts your attention, the corners of your eyes would then b open to see whats really there but its only little glimpses due to momentary lapses in your unconsise mind!

Don't know if anyone will get that, its a very hard thing to explain!
