Got a lovely present from a colleague of mine who knew I had an interest in collecting whiskey ( mainly Irish but have the odd scotch and bourbon too )

Anyway it's a "Hennessy Na-Geanna" - it's origin is from Co.Louth so I can only assume it's a Cooley special - apparently it is (was)? marketed by Hennessey ( of cognac fame ) and only available in Japan - so much so that the back label on the bottle is all in Japanese . It's in a nice green prersentation box and a 70cl size.

I'm dead chuffed to have it my collection - will post a few pics of the bottle if anybody is interested.

Yes, it's a nice one. It was out a good few years ago, and I think it was sold in Japanese duty free. It is a Cooley. Can go for up to €200.

    I have one too.

Wow - better not tell my friend it could be up to €200 in value - mind you he told me has 4 or 5 bottles of the stuff - he used to work up at the distillery and has several other rareties in his collection .

    Good question :)

I have about two dozen whiskies that I've collected that I'd love to know the taste of - I only taste it it when I have a second bottle !

I drink powers , jameson and green spot as day to day whiskies .

Someday I'll open them ( not at the same time of course  ) and try a few .

Cheers Shanel, looks interesting, a whiskey in a Hennessy bottle. So it was only available in Japan, I wonder was it available in airport duty free's also though.

I've done a bit of research ( google ) and from what I could find out it was only available in Japan and Japanese duty free shops . Hennessy I believe is a massive brand in Japan and I suppose they decided to make the most of their brand name - I'll be keeping my eye out for Hennessy vodka next :)

I've yet to find a Cooley whiskey I didn't like.

Saying that, I'm not all that pushed on the Connemara but peated whiskey isn't my thing, that's my taste though, it's not the whiskey that's to fault.

Have to agree Mr M. - can't warm to connemara at all - love all the tyrconnel from Cooley - in fact hope to pick up their port finsh one tomorrow .

Have to admit have a bottle of both Micheal Collins blend and malt and have only tastd the blend ( one morning heading off at Dublin airport :) - was'nt worried that I had an important meeting when I landed ! )

Love the new Greenore too !

The Greenore is one of my fav's. Looking forward to the longer matured versions over the next few years.

Next time you're thinking of buying the Michael Collins blend or malt, consider buying the much cheaper Locke's or Locke's blend. Theyr'e the same, I believe.

It's likely to be a very young Cooley, as it was released a number of years ago. Doesn't make it good or bad, but Cooley#s stuff does improve with age.

I'd say an awful lot of the Cooley offerings are the same whiskey but different branding. I just fancied having both Collins bottles as part of my collection - Mind you the size of the blend bottle meant I had to lower one shelf to get it to fit

Yeah, they're not designed for the shop shelf really. Or any other kind of shelf.

What else do you have in your collection?

Do Cooley have a tour or shop for the public?

No not normally open to the public - but I believe if you ring them they are fairly facilitating .

I'm lucky in the fact that the guy who gave me the bottle of Hennessy knows the people up there and he is arranging for a tour etc.
