Computer won't turn on

I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem I have with my pc.

When I turn the power on it sounds like it is powering up; the lights go on, the fan starts up (there is no beep) but the screen is blank.

The monitor is green for a few seconds, but then turns orange. I have tried all the usuals, checking all the leads etc. and it seems like it could be a problem with the monitor. But I think there has to be a problem with the computer itself because the monitor is powering up.

I think it could be a problem with the video card? Has anyone experienced this before?

It is a relatively new Dell computer, a year old, Dimension E521.

    Thanks.

IT could really be one of quite a few different things:

    cpu,
    ram,
    hdd,
    motherboard,
    psu and a few others.

Did you take out the extended warrenty with dell ? If so give them a call and they can walk you through a few steps over the phone.

But the first thing to check before that is to oprn up the pc, and make sure the ram is seated properly, and your video card isnt loose. Also dound check all internal power cables and connections to make sure nothing is loose.

To confirm your monitor theory try your monitor with another pc and see if your monitor works at all.

Reset the CMOS & see what happens. (Remove button battery for 5Min then but it back)
