Improving the Wireless signal

    Guys,

I have a wireless router upstairs in my house and although I can get a signal downstairs in dining room with PS3/DS/Laptop the signal doesn't make it to the sitting room. Well only half the room seems to manage to get a signal.

Anyway I can boost the signal ?

I have linksys wireless g router if that helps. What are my options ?

    Cheers,
    Brian.

There is not really any way to boost the signal if it is actually a situation that it is too low.

However this may only seem like that is the problem; some things that might help would be to
Change the channel of the wireless router
Ensure B and G is selected
    And reposition the router
Ensure there is nothing around the router which could cause interference i.e. amplifiers, cordless phones, baby monitors etc....

When positioning the router something most people forget is that the wireless is transmitted from the side of the aerials so there can be black spots directly below/above the router.

Just like the other thread, try this:

Most stories I read, say it works, but I don't know by how much

Thanks guys. I actually came accross that this morning. Have the tempate printed and will try tonight :)

I actually bricked my Linksys last night installing a custom firmware that would have allowed me to increase the signal :(

Have another wireless router though and the signal seems better on that. PS3 manages to pick it up anyway.
