    hi

im looking for help to find out if my phone line is on a pargain/splitter/carrier? I have phoned eircom and i was told that there is no way of knowing, and even if they could find out there is no way off being removed from the carrier! i believe this to be complete bulls**t!!
i have been having problems repeatedly over the last 2years of crossed lines where i can hear my neighbours conversations and vice versa! i contacted comreg and i have to say they were helpful and they put pressure on eircom and they finally installed a new line for me. but im still having problems. My dial up ranges from 26-30kbps. Would like to get BB but i believe i have no chance if my line is a carrier. so i would appreicate help to find out if my line is in fact a carrier..

    thanks

I hate to point out the obvious, but have you checked your line yet? Eircom has a line-checker page on its broadband page, so does BT which I can directly link to here.

If you live within about 4~km of your local exchange and its broadband enabled, you should get a Pass when you enter your number. If all of that is true but it fails it means
    1: You are on a pairgain/carrier
2: The copper connecting your telephone to the exchange is, at some part, crap.

PM me your number and I'll check for you. Also if it is a carrier chances are there isnt enough copper available. Getting a new line installed 9/10 wont help matters.

yes i have checked my line on both BT and eircom on almost a daily basis. Some of my neighbours can get BB, and i had a new line installed recently. i live 4km from excahnge. my neighbours that can get bb live with 200m of me. Although some of my other neighours closer to me cant get BB so i believe they mite be on the carrier with me
