    Hello All:

Planning a trip to Maui, Hawaii next month and researching what part of the Island to stay on - Wailea or Lahaina?

Would really like to hear from anybody who has visited Maui or may know about it. In particular the following information:
    • Good beaches
    • Best hotels
    • Tours

Will be in Honolulu for the first week in May and then on to Maui for 3 days.
Interested in hiking, volcanoes, photography and a little beach time - so a mainly active holiday is planned.

Have google'd quite a bit but have a greater trust in my fellow boardsies!

Any other tips would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Carpe Diem

i spent three months in maui working and travelling...its a fantastic place. I dont know if this reply is too late but your questions depend very much on where u want to stay.

i would avoid lahina at all costs its way too touristy and just full of irish, you might as well stay in stillorgan. Wailea is beauitful but very expensive.

i stayed in kihei and it was perfect amazing beaches, great weather (rained twice in 3 months) and good nightlife etc. Plus its a perfect spot to get out and see the island from as the main high way is just outside town. Then you can go see place like HANA which is the most stuning place on this planet hands down...its a tough road to get there but worth every bit of it.

If i can be of any more help just reply...
