    All,

As above - need to get a new set of slacks/utiltity trousers and a good set of wet gear - i know the weather is supposed to be better now but was out in rathsallagh on saturday morning and got absoulutly soaked!

had a quick look in mcguirks on mon and they have the gortex stuff (recommended by mate - told me to splash out - pun intended!) but it comes in at about 600 bills for the set!

Anyone ever buy anything like this online? for cheaper?
Surely all sizes are same - so if i fit the stuff in shops here then order the same stuff online.

If you fancy a quick hop to London the London Golf Show is on April 25-27 and I was there a couple of years ago where there was a huge shop with loads of bargains!

You should definitely pick up decent raingear as well as having a quick trip to London and probably get away with a lot less than €600!

I got a galvin green gore-tex top for about €300 and callaway gore-tex trousers for €150 and they are perfect.
The GG matching trousers were very tight in the leg (and the wallet, €260 I think!)

It's a slightly tricky one as ideally you would need to try stuff on to be sure of sizes. But if for example you take the Ben Dunne philosophy you could try on any stuff you are interested in at the various stores, get your sizes, and then shop around online. There are savings to be made, but the premium wetgear, i.e. Galvin Green and so on, probably isn't much cheaper online, I could be wrong.

cheers lads - good idea on the try instore then buy online -

was recommended to go for sunderland wet gear - cheaper online by about 100 euros so have to find a shop selling same for the tryon

I have a sunderland trousers and I would highly recommend it.
Its an 'L' with 'Regular Leg' and fits comfortably (I would tend to take 32-32 or 33-32 if i've had too much steak ;) )
Bought it in-store but forget how much it cost.
Tend to wear shower-proof short sleeved tops over it and avoid crazy wet days where possible (like last saturday!)

I brought back my sunderland bottoms, they were not gore-tex and they let in (last Saturday :) ) I had a major case of wet crotch which is not plesant, not sure if it was the stitching or the zipper but had no hassle from mcguirks.

Before they let in I found that they were getting heavier and heavier as they got wet, they dont repel the water like gore-tex does...
