Shared Copyright

I am looking to photography someone semi-famous soon. This is not a commercial exercise on my part, but rather hopefully a stepping stone to something else down the road.

I am not paying for this privilage and have no problem sharing the copyright with the "sitter". Any ideas how to go about it and what implications does it have down the line (for example do you need both copyright holders permission before the image can be released to someone?).

    Thanks

    T.

Your best bet is to draw up a model release form. Agree the rights with the subject before the shoot, even if there are no commercial implications. State what uses are permitted and what uses would require a further agreement.

I'm not sure about sharing copyright, but you could detail in the form that a further agreement would be needed if the image(s) were to be used for commercial reasons.

Keep it simple and in plain english.
