Interview outfit/look

Hi there, I know there was a thread similar recently, and I realise after reading it how first impressions count, as in how you look..but Ive another question..Ive an interview on Wednesday for a masters..okay, not a job, but an incredibly competetive masters which will lead to a professional career. I applied last year and was unsuccessful, and Im going back..

Last year I wore black trousers, a white shirt and my hair was shoulder length with a side fringe, so I pinned back the fringe, to look neater...

This year, I have a blunt fringe, which isnt going to pin back...The hair length is about two inches above my shoulders (sorry If Im boring some of you, but I really get finicky about these things!) I could wear it all down, and put it up in a small ponytail, with some pieces on either side of the fringe coming down..this is difficult to describe, but it looks neat too) What do you think looks neater, those of you who have interviewed?

Also, a bizarre one, Im not at all comfy wearing shirts/trousers/ smart skirts, but understand that it is an interview..does sit really make a difference which you choose, skirt or trousers??

Hope these dont sound petty, but Im sure those of you who have been in similar situations understand. Id rather get my appearance sorted than to be worrying about it in the interview...

If you were to graduate from the Masters course and enter start a professional career....

what would you see yourself wearing?

A good tip when going for an interview is to dress as if you've already got the job and are working for that company. How to company employees dress? etc. etc.

So I guess it could apply here too!

Good luck hope it goes well :D

edit: (tbh your hair doesn't matter. It's how you hold yourself and what comes out of your mouth that makes the difference!)

I think as long as the hair looks neat, you'll be ok.

I'd wear trousers rather than a skirt. Just make sure they're nice ones, not tatty at the ends and well pressed.

Maybe ask for some advice from friends and family while dressed exactly as you would be for the interview. Try not to over analyse too much though, as long as you're well presented, it won't make too much difference!

Thanks folks..I know its silly realy fretting over that sort of stuff when Im mid researching strategies and theories at the mo, but I suppose Ive always been uncomfortable in suity clothes, I mean the first shirt and trousers I bought were the ones for the interview last year! I just have to block out the fact I'll feel right an awful plonkers sitting there!

Ill try on both the trousers and skirt with the shirt and ask the family, all items are spotless as have only been worn once:)

You'll be FINE!!!! Focus on the more important things like shaking the interviewers hand, talking to them directly while looking into their eyes and show them you deserve the place!

    like Frankie said RELAX!
