With the country being made smaller with ''the celtic toiger'' and the american shows on TV, I think the old sayings are being lost.

What funny sayings have you heard from your parents or grandparents?

''Here's me head me arse is comin''

    ''Be the lord lantern jaysus''

    ''I'd sleep on a wheelbarra''

I have dozens, they'll spring to mind soon

Another one to describe stomach flattening underwear 'galvanise knickers' mind you she could be right there:)

From me Granny: "It's not off the ground he licked it!"
Translation: He gets that particular trait from his father!

For me, it was using the word "Bad" to mean something Good. Or cool. Or gnarly.

Ah America 1994... I will miss you.

Or from gran-folks it was always "when I was young n' brave..."
