Hi, a friend of mine is getting married later in the year. She would like a reception in a castle, and had planned to get married in a chapel on a castles grounds. She has just found out that this isn't possible as the chapel is not recognised by the catholic church, so you can only have a blessing.

Does anyone know of any castle, in ireland, with a catholic church on its grounds?

    Or

could they have the blessing and sign the register in the chapel, and then get married (vows only) with just the bride and groom, and two witnesses in a catholic church, immediately afterwards?

    Thanks

We're having the same problem. We wanted to get married in the church on the grounds of the hotel where the reception is but were told that the catholic church won't do it. So we thought that we'd get married in a registry office a day or two before hand and then have a blessing etc in the hotel church on the big day but we've been told that if we get married in the registry office the Catholic church won't do a blessing for you.
