    Quick question.

Need too buy a new server with windows 2000 server installed.

Will 2000 server benefit much from dual core or quad core.

And if so is it better too get 2 x dual core processors or 1 x quad core ?

    whats the price difference
what application will you run on it, does this support multiple threads
are you likely to have to recycle the server in a years time and use it for something else
is there a licencing issue ( oracle for eg licences by core not socket )

get a board thats able to handle 2 quads, and just install 1 quad now if your tight opn money and upgrade later. But i think server 2000 will only really work with duals, but dont quote me on that.
