Zoom remote cable.. Anyone got one?

Long shot this, but Zoom don't respond, and no local dealers seem to know about it or can order it..

I am looking for a remote cable to connect a Zoom 9150 valve DSP to a Zoom 8050 foot controller. I currently have them connected using a standard midi cable and this works fine, however it requires a seperate power supply for the 8050 which is annoying. The manual mentions an optional remote cable which carries power directly from the 9150, but I cannot find anyone who can supply one of these.

    Anyone got one lying around?

It's a standard S-Video cable (I'm 99% sure) and these are available in lots of lengths and reasonably cheaply. I use this unit and the same pedalboard and it's really very handy to have just the one lead!

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks

i have been searching for a cable for my 8050 pedal for the past few weeks. i can't believe i misplaced my cable! anyway, i recently purchased an s-video cable but it did not fit. still searching. if anyone has any leads, please share. i did find a site that gives downloadable (or printable) manuals for all zoom products (including the old stuff i have: 9030 and 8050).
i contacted samson, but they couldn't even give me the manuals. they said sorry, but my equipment was too old. i emailed zoom in japan, but have not heard back from them.
if anyone can help, i would appreciate it.
    thanks.

Yeah, I never managed to find out which cable worked, but it was definately not an s-video cable sadly.

    hey,
was wondering if you ever found the cable, or a working substitute? i have not yet, but have been looking online (craig's list, etc). i am almost ready to give up my search and buy a new board. i actually saw an 8050 on ebay. i almost bought it because it came with the cord.
anyway, the search continues for the ever elusive 8-pin cord.
    good luck.

Sadly I never found one, so I just use the external power supply :(

Sorry, looks like it wasn't an S-Video cable! That's a real shame, I thought it would work and I'm sorry if this sent anyone on a wild goose chase....

Remarkably, mine's still working after 12 years use (plugging and unplugging a couple of times a week at least). But, it won't work forever so I need to find a replacement too. I'm sure the plugs will be available (Farnell, RS etc) but making up such a lead would be a pain.

Pro DJ CD players often seperate the control unit from the CD drive itself and the connecting leads are similar size and pin layout.

    Might be worth a shot?

If I get any further, I'll post here.

Once again, sorry for the confusion!

    Thanks

    HI,

Ok, it’s called an 8 pin mini-din connector. There’s some info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-DIN_connector#8-pin. There are some 10ft male to male cables here: http://www.kvmgalore.com/shopping/category.php?category_id=4174&category_name=8-pin Mini-Din Serial Cables&kartSess= plus some extensions etc. The plugs themselves are here: http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/18254-mini-din-plug-8-pin-8mp371.html and I guess any 9 way (to include the ring/ shield etc) cable should do the trick?

Hope this helps a bit. I’m feeling really bad about the flippant ‘just use an S Video lead’ answer I gave!

    Thanks

    Harry

If you can get someone brave enough to butcher a standard cable and look at the pin-out you'll be able to figure it out very quickly. It's probably as simple as crossing either pin 1 or 3 to carry power.

4 and 5 do the data (well, to be pedantic about it pin4 = +5v) and 2 is the shield so I'm guessing 1 or 3 is your man - maybe get a multimeter with probes thin enough to stick into the DIN port of the 9150 to figure out whats giving you a voltage reading and you could work from that basis. It really can't be that hard!

EDIT : I see someone saying its an 8 pin connection; same theory will apply. I'm guessing the majority of those pins aren't connected to anything.
