Anyone going to the Cannes Film Festival?

    My boyfriend and I are going to the Cannes Film Festival this year. We're not accredited, so if we get into any of the special screenings it'll have to be through blagging! We're mainly going for the atmosphere and to watch a few movies on the beach-maybe stalk a few celebrities! My question is-has anyone been to previous years' festivals? If so, how did you get on? Did you manage to get into any of the theatre screenings? How did you do it?

    Also any recommendations for the area? We're going to be staying at Villa Nina in Juan Les Pins up the road, and flying in and out of Nice. We want to stay in this general area. We'll probably keep it between Monaco and Cannes maybe. We have 5 days (22nd-27th May), we're around 30 years old, we love nice restaurants and live music. Is there any great jazz around? Lastly, we'd really like to catch some fireworks, does anyone know when they're on? Any info would be much appreciated!

    Right then, it looks like nobody's going to the Cannes Film Festival, but has anyone been to that part of France? Know anywhere good to go that might not be in the travel guide??

    I've booked a trip to Nice to coincide with the Cannes Film Festival.I intend to travel to Cannes by Train.
    Has anyone any tips or Do's and Dont's.I've been to Nice before,but I've never been to Cannes.
    Where in Cannes are the best places to go to maybe catch a glimpse of Celebrities etc.Where are good places to Eat on a Budget.?:confused:

    I'm going to the CIFF in may if that's any good to ya! Reckon it'll be a flying visit though with little or no recreation done.

    Fwiw, they have some nice blankets they hand out to you for the late night beach screenings :/
