Shoes for narrow feet!

My DD (8) has v narrow feet ( a stick insect like I was at that age). We went shopping today for trainers - she had Geox in mind - in Limerick and Ennis. Had her feet measured in 3 shoe shops to be told by all of them in a disapproving tone "Ohhhhh, she's a VERY narrow fitting...." and that they didnt have anything to fit. Like we shaved a few cms off her feet just to cause a problem for the shop!!!!
She measured E/F fitting, size 13 foot. Two shop assistants half heartedly offered a wider fitting with the velcro pulled to the very last but she didnt like the shoes (pink) and I wasnt spending €60 to have the shoes sit in the wardrobe. The third didnt even offer a shoe just told us she had nothing to fit.
I have to say in all shops the staff were very unhelpful - no real effort made to help us/make suggestions - and once they found out that she wouldnt wear pink they abandoned us altogether. You'd be amazed at the number of pink trainers out there for girls. In two of the three shops, the assistants were downright rude, in the third she was just unhelpful and totally uninterested.
I had hoped to get geox as my DD lives in trainers and i thought their breathable lining was an advantage. But they dont make Geox for narrow feet. I think our next stop is a Sports Shop and hope for the sweaty best.

Anyone got any suggestions where we could buy narrow fitting shoes (online or not)?

Clarks are the best for narrow fit shoes - my daughter has narrow feet too and it is the only place we can get proper fitting shoes !! Pity they are so expensive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I used to work in Graham's Shoes in Dublin. We stocked trainers made by Clarks and Start-Rite that are made to fit different widths, usually E-H.

It might be worth contacting either company to see if they have stockist near to you.

same problem with my dd. Lived in the Uk and never had a problem but shoe shops seem to think clarks f is narrow fitting and don't stock many but lots of g or wider. In UK F is classed as average and had narrower than average and wider than average too. My dd is age 10 and a 2e in Clarks but like I said have to get a 2f and often not one in the shop will stay on her foot as she walks....we have to put an insole in to fill up the shoe.

If somebody knows where they stock a decent range of narrow fitting kids shoes I will drive anywhere in the country for them..thanks

always have to buy shoes when we visit UK:rolleyes:

Of the 3 shops I went to, two were Clarks stockists and the other was a Start rite shop. The whole experience put me off going back to any of them. Especially seeing as though they advertise that they do shoes to measure. All we got was a measure....no shoes!!
Someone suggested trying clarks online - they may only deliver to a uk address but I've a friend living over there who would forward the package on.
Will keep you filled in on our progress.

i have the opposite problem with wide feet. for school i take her into local clarks get her measured and then end up ringing around a load of shops to see if they have anything in that size, i find velcro a no no, as for some reason, i think its to do with dd arch, they dont last long and she ends up tripping up in them.

you said you were shopping in limerick, i found the clarks in mallow really very helpful, and the last time i was down there they seemed to have a good range of the cica runners.

    Hi,
I have the same problem, my 5 yr old daughter has size 13b feet. God love her they are so long and skinny even when i source shoes, they dont look great. There is a shoe shop in Dublin in Tyrellstown, near blanchardstown, they dont stock size b but are so helpful, no-one makes b fitting but they did order a c for me from start-rite in Uk, delivered to shop in 5 working days. i know they also have a shop in Meath somewhere. Its called little piggys. Hope it is some help. By the way startrite do a narrower fit than Clarkes, so if you could find a local shop that stock them and ask to see the brochure, maybe they could order them for you.
