Thinking of buying an Xbox arcade when premium is being repaired. Thoughts?

Xbox premium is being repaired.

Arcade is around 200euro

Heres my thoughts:
Need a new wireless controller (40€)
Wouldnt mind a few arcade games (??€)
Im getting a 2nd entertainment unit for another room in my house: music, gaming, movies and also an extra xbox for lan parties.

If I found an arcade with a decent game bundled with it for around 200€ I think it would be a definate purchase, 40€ for the controller 60€ for the game = xbox for €100. Without a bundled game of extra peripheral Im not sure if id purchase for €200.

Anyone know what kind of deals or packs the Arcade has?
Does it need the harddrive to play some games?(heard something about halo but im not sure)

Thoughts?

GAME used to have a free game with the arcade pack but now it seems that is gone. you need a hard drive to play XBOX1 games.

or you could get a xbox1 and mod it to play movies etc for €20 second hand. Wouldnt be any god for lan parties but if your main purpose is to play videos you wont get anything better.

And as far as i know you only get a wired controller with the Arcade.

I use a wireless network to stream all music/movies so original xbox wouldnt do. Plus I want it for lan gaming and to have an xbox in the bedroom along with the sitting room.

The arcade comes with a wireless controller and a 256mb card and these arcade games

* PAC-MAN Championship Edition™
* UNO®
* Luxor 2
* Boom Boom Rocket
* Feeding Frenzy™.

It has also has a HDMI port when my premium doesnt.

Anyone know of any good deals?

You could probably buy a second hand Premium in one of the gaming shops with a decent guarentee (6 /12 months) for a similar price.

I was offered €170 for my second one when i asked in GAME. (Which i didn't go for so 2nd Box is boxe under the bed and seldom gets a look at being used.)

Think about that option too. You'll have 6 months warranty for red lights from MS in any case.

that was the core, i thought the arcade pack only came with a wired controller and no memory card up to a few weeks ago when i actually looked at one of the boxes

The core is gone now, unless there's a few still left in stores.

The arcade takes over in that segment of the market, it comes with wired controller and a MU w/games loaded on already.

It's wireless and you get a disc with the arcade games on them.

If they have a HDMI on them and you pick up a 2nd hand HDD then you pretty much have the premium man.

go for it. my premium sans ALL accessories is gone back to MS and am waiting on a new replacement. in the meantime i bought an arcade system with wireless controller for €200

when i get the new one back ill sell it on here

only problem I have is using the HDMI port now. because I didn't get the elite, the hdmi cable has no pass through for optical audio and its the only way for me to use surround sound from my system burn.

anyone got a spare dongle that comes with the elite that they are not using?

You might not get it as a seperate man, try searching around for a "Xbox 360 HDMI AV Cable"

Sorry if it's been asked before but can the arcade (out of the box) play original xbox games ? Without the 20Gig Hard drive that is ?

Nope. The original games expect to find a HDD.

it means i've to fork out min €32 for that cable from play-asia (thanks D3UC3 J3 - beats the €50 blips in regular shops) as they dont sell the dongle separately. man f*ck ms - broken consoles n' crappy options :mad:

if you wanna play halo 3 or cod 4 Online youll need a HD as the Heroic Map Pack is 800 mb or so, also map packs foe COD too, both are needed todo matchmakin.

Well I caved..... Bought a brand new arcade in Gamestop for €199. Th offered a pre-owned for 170, but I didnt see the point if I could get a fresh one with a newer manufacturing date, hdmi. Plus the one they offered me was a core, so it had to be older, thus more prone to RROD. My premium still hasn't came home from Germany
