Big Problem with New PC!

    Hey,

I recently got a new PC, with a great spec and Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I'm getting random blank screens (like right in the middle of doing something), restarting and freezing. I even got a blue screen of death once and it was full of stack dumps and crap (it said something about the video card driver, but I'm not sure if it's related, as it's only happened once). All drivers are up to date, and updates have been installed.

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 2,4Ghz, 2GB RAM, nvidia 680i mobo with geforce 8800GT 512MB graphics card, antec case with a zillion fans.

Does anybody with a similar spec have this type of problem?

    Cheers.

Go to control panel -> system -> advanced settings -> startup and recovery and untick the restart automatically box. Next time it bluescreens get all the text and error message and we can tell more from them. Check the event log as well to see if the error message was already captured.

Post the Blue Screen message, but as a guess double check there is a power cable connected to your 8800GT.

I foolishly neglected to note what the blue screen message said, but if I get it again I'll write it down. I think everything's ok with the card - I can play games just fine and the fan is spinning away. The frustrating thing about this problem is that it seems to come and go.

Another strange thing today - I started Windows as normal, but my mouse kept freezing. I could move it for about 2 seconds, then it would freeze for 2 seconds, and then I could move it again, and it would freeze again..and so on... It was fine after a restart (or 'reset' I should say - it said 'shutting down' for about 10 mins...had to push the button). To me that looks like some kind of IRQ conflict. It's a USB mouse.

I starting to think the the components just don't like each other!
