this probably a stupid question, and i'm reckoning the answer is no as its generally a board limitation, but,

If i was to upgrade my processor and double the fsb speed, would the ram also run faster? like lets say the ram can run at 667mhz but its only running at 333mhz on my machine, would speeding up the fsb push up the ram speed???

i dont want to overclock, doesnt interest me as i would rather not shorten part life. and i dont want to go through all the cooling malarkey.

never mind. its ok. after doing some research i have discovered that my laptop comes with 512meg of ddr 333mhz. but, if you put in 400mhz ddr it will run it at that speed! although its supposed to max out at 333. which is kind of cool!
400 is still slow by todays standards! but its much better than the old 133, and trust me, its like gold to me!

If your motherboard is limited to 333Mhz then putting in 400Mhz will do nothing. The 400Mhz ram will just fall back to 333Mhz.

i understand that, but the other 5o21wlmi owners who have tried the 400 have found that the machine supports it fully!

i realise that it sounds impossible, but who knows, the mobo model has been used on a few other models and im sure they use better ram than ddr 333!
    so its highly likely!
