We want to go for a few nights in Vegas at the start of honeymoon but dont want to stay for a full 2 weeks (id be wrecked!). Anyone any suggestions where to go for about 7 nights after for complete chill out? Have hawaii in mind but just wondering if anyone else has done vegas and another destination?

    hello
I have just booked our honey moon and we are doing Hawaii for 11 days and then on to vegas for 3 as we felt we would probably need to wind down after the wedding as opposed to trying to stay going for another couple days ..... i cant wait !

Good idea actually! Did you book it through a travel agent or did you do it yourself?

Through a friend of a friend who works in a travel agent ! we're not staying in any honey moons suites or anything like that but we get manage to get a great deal ! if you want to no how much just send me a private mail ... i do no that the travel agent went through a travel contact he has in the uk so if you are booking it yourself start from there ... he also gave us loads of other ideas as well that were around the same price ... but ive always wanted vegas !

    Hi Jelly Bean,

We booked our honeymoon about two weeks ago, 5 night in Vegas, 6 nights in DisneyLand (tee hee :D) and then 8 nights in Barbados. Cant wait :)

Vegas is clas, havent heard anybody say a bad word about it. A great base as well for you to nip off and see the Grand Canyon / Hoover Dam. 4-5 days is more than enough though imo.

As for Hawaii, anybody planning to go there should speak to someone who has actually been there. Totally over rated and over priced for what it is. As a previous poster suggested I would look at the Caribbean option, much better all round destination.

I agree with Sizzler, I know two couples that went to Hawaii and they said its just not what they were expecting at all !! very built up, very
commercialised, thats why we decided on Barbados, but everyone to there own at the end of the day :)

we did it in reverse op! 6 nights in cancun mexico, (stunning, cheap, relaxing and relatively crime free, we got offered 'ice' on the main strip!) then 4 nights in LA (boring dissapointing , other than universal and disneyland) then 4 nights in vegas before finishing for a 2 night stopover in New York.

tip for vegas, its UNBERABLY hot (99degrees at midnight) wear flat shoes when doing the strip as its nearly ten miles to do the lenght and back. very few people do actually dress up there, its all casual shorts and t shirts. most people drink on the street while walking up and down the strip.

And if youre considering doing the grand canyon shop around, the hotel concierge are usualy 'in' with the trip companies so you may not get the best value for money (and though its a trip of a lifetime it is quiet expensive)

Great idea. We did Vegas and LA a couple of years ago and after spending 4 nights in vegas we needed a rest and to get away from the drink/ gambling to some normality so we went down to LA for 6 days and hated it. LA is a dump, take the beaches/disneyland out of it and there is nothing there. After 2 days in LA we wanted to go back to vegas. As regards doing vegas first or last, i would definately do it first as you will still be riding high from the wedding and that is the best way to be in vegas. Also nothing surer than after 4 nights in vegas you will need a relaxing holiday somewhere... Hawaii sounds cool, but if your going that far. San Francisco is a must and twice the city that LA will ever be for green holiday makers....

    hey there ..

After reading some of yer comments regarding Hawaii i went back to my travel agent and asked him to be blunt about what he thought of it , basically the response was the same as what was posted here ... so have canceled vegas and hawaii and am heading to Cuba ! All inclusive and it worked out cheaper to thanks for eye openers !
