I recently joind a new gym and they have the standing cable flye machines. My old gym only had 1 of these machines so you could only do triceps push downs and other exercises where you only needed one machine.

Anyway, my point is, I changed around my routine last week, and I added the standing cable flyes exercise into my chest routine. I must say this is now my favourite exercise! It hits nearly all of your upper body! I would recommend to anyone who has dumbell flyes in their routine to change over to cable flyes! In my opinion its a much better exercise! :D

Its good but if you had only done cable flys and then tried dumbell flys you would have that as your favourite exercise, variety is key!

Exactly - cable flys = the most over rated exercise in the gym IMO

Are you sure about that? Cableflys generally should only hit your pecs.

But anyway, as cowzerp has said, variety is the key.

It's the only part of your upper body that actually matters tho!! Apart from the gunzzz.

Seriously tho, I do like cable flys and I dislike dumbbell flys. Nothing wrong with either variation, I've just never "liked" the dumbbell version.

    I'm pretty much the same.

Done properly cables are fantastic for isolating your pec's.

Cable flyes and dips were/are my fav's for isolating my pecs.

Should legs be square for cable flies? When I so them I find it easier to stand with my right foot forward...

Also, should arm end up at chest height, or at waist height? I thoughtchest (directly in front of you), but often see guys pushing down, and finishing at waist height. Different muscles worked maybe?

I'm about as far from bein an expert as you could get, but I did think that one leg was supposed to be forward... I usually alternate legs personally when I do this one, which is only occasionally.

    COuld be wrong, mind...

If I was gonna do it with one leg would forward I'd be making sure my hips remain square. If you can keep both hips facing forward then you shouldn't have a problem....
