Gumtree.ie safe for purchase?

Hey guys, This is my first time on Boards.ie. So am not sure whether this is the right section to post my query.
I want to purchase a dishwasher, probably a secondhand one and I've seen some on Gumtree.ie. Have any of you been to that site and have purchased or contacted anybody on that site regarding a purchase on it?
    Is it trustworthy?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Since it's a large item and you'll probably have to meet the seller and see it before buying, I'd be tempted to say go ahead and try it. However, the only things I've ever heard about Gumtree is that it's full of scams (or in fact, everything on it is a scam).

If you call to the seller first and see before you buy, and also collect it yourself or get the seller to deliver before you part with the cash, then I don't see why not. Just make sure to see it working beforehand too.

Thanks for the reply. I'm really not sure whether I want to go ahead with a secondhand one as I rent the place. But cleaning dishes is the worst curse one can get! :p
